This was a great way to use short sections of old beams that we had in the workshop. As you can see from the top views, we glued 2 beam sections together to build up to the required dimensions. Then we rough shaped the facets with a chainsaw and finished them with hand tools. There is a direct connection to the raw material in its original form via these massive blocks, with knots, cracks and growth rings. However, the faceted shaping refines the block into something more elegant and sculptural.
