We first built this table for clients at Brandeis University. The designers specified 2 tables, at nearly 11’ long, as the clients frequently entertain large groups in their spacious loft apartment. The 2 layer top is a variation on a traditional drop leaf table. By folding the leaves on top, we’ve maintained a clean, compact form that exposes the base, instead of hiding it. The doubled outer legs open to support the leaves in their open position.
